An Immersive Experience for Deaf and Non-Deaf Alike
Derek Long, LLC Presents A WOLF'S MOTHER by Cary Simowitz
When: November 21-23, 2024 (7pm)
Where: COMMA Performing Arts Center, Morganton, NC
As a Deaf/Non-Deaf inclusive play, the show is dual cast. Meaning every character has two actors (a hearing actor and deaf actor) that share the same role. While the hearing actor is speaking the lines, the Deaf actor is signing them. Building on the success of All the Oxytocin in Your Fingertips of same playwright, A Wolf's Mother is the second Deaf/Non-Deaf inclusive play produced by Derek Long in Morganton, NC.
Alder Springs and the wider deaf community are excited for another innovative performance by the Simowitz/Long duo. All proceeds of November's play go to benefit Alder Springs Community in the current Capital Campaign for campus expansion.
All ticket proceeds will benefit Alder Springs Deaf and Blind Community in Morganton
Play synopsis: JULY 1967. The Summer of Love. Spokane, Washington. Forty-seven year old Ada "Kathleen" Bower, hardened from more than three decades of ceaselessly outrunning a pack of inner demons, answered an unexpected knock on her door, only to find her long-lost son poised on the threshold with a hand outstretched. Equal parts disgusted and horrified, she slammed the door on him. Mother and son never saw each other again.
But what if Kathleen had let Charles Manson in?
